Real Madrid set to pay world-record fee to sign Man United long-term target
According to The Sun, Real Madrid are ready to sanction a
world-record transfer bid of over £300 million to beat Manchester United
to sign Neymar, who became the most expensive player in history last
summer when he moved from La Liga to Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth
almost £200m. The Brazilian is already being linked with a move away
from the French capital.
In 35 matches in all competitions – his season was cut short due to a foot injury – the 26-year-olds netted 27 goals, helping French giants storm to the Ligue 1 title. But he is said to be unhappy in France and willing to leave this summer if the right offer comes. Last month, reports said Manchester United were lining up a world-record move for the world-class star, with Jose Mourinho willing to bring the forward to Old Trafford.
But Real Madrid have remained the favourites to secure a deal and are set to obliterate the current transfer record to obtain his signature. It is claimed that, as part of Neymar’s move to PSG, a stipulation was included in the deal, allowing him to leave for £263m on September 1, the day after the transfer window closes.
