Arsenal set to sing 22-year-old versatile defender

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig defender Lukas Klostermann. Klostermann has made 74 appearances for Leipzig since joining them. But his performances in the Bundesliga have caught the eye of Europe’s top clubs and Arsenal want to sign him.

Gunners have linked with Klostermann two years ago but the deal failed. Arsenal are ready to revive their interest as new manager Unai Emery wants to fortify his new defence this summer. The German is comfortable at centre-back and full-back and it’s complaining such a big interest from Arsenal.

Klostermann has a contract with the German club until 2021 and has joined the club in 2014 after arriving from VFL Bochum. German youth international Klostermann is capable of playing anywhere across the backline.

Gunners are desperate to improve their defence after they conceded 51 goals in the Premier League – the most of any side in the top seven. Arsenal are on the verge of signing Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund. And the Gunners signed veteran Swiss defender Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free transfer from Juventus.
