Classy defender confirms negotiations with Manchester United

Manchester United may have depleted their £70 million transfer budget but reports circulating suggest that they may still be in the market for new players.

Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has confirmed United interest in his services, the 23-year-old was quoted as saying: “Manchester United? I heard from them and it made me proud, but I’m even happier that Inter decided to reject it and that they believe so much in me.”

Mourinho is keen to bolster his defence this summer, particularly the centre back position with United linked with Spurs star Toby Aldeweireld and Bayern Star Jerome Boateng meantioned more often in the media.

United were reportedly keen Alderweireld. However, his transfer fee of around £50m has made the old Trafford outfit cool down interest.

Boateng, according to several reports, has been offered by Bayern Munich to United, but it stated that  though United are still weighing their options after checking the frequwncy of his hamstring problem over the past few years.

Skriniar presents a younger version of both Boateng and Alderweireld and his combative style of play fits with Mourinho ideology. Inter Milan are playing hardball with United by rejecting a bid of around £57 million for the Slovakia international.

The Italian club have made it clear to the Red Devils that Skriniar is not for sale. Skriniar moved to Inter Milan from Sampdoria in a deal worth £20 million last summer. Skriniar was impressive last season with the 23-year old helping Inter Milan finish 4th in Serie A.

The defender has made 38 appearances for the Milan side during his time in the Club.
