Chelsea very close to sealing first summer signing after negotiations for £27m begins

Chelsea are close to sealing their first signing of the summer after the Guardian reports that the Blues have submitted a bid of £27 million for Russian World Cup star Aleksandr Golovin.

The Russian midfielder is one of the main stars from the host nation’s squad that have attracted interest from foreign clubs following their gallant displays for their side at the global mundial.

The 22-year old has grabbed two assists for Russia while scoring once, helping the host nation advance to the knockout stage of the competition. Juventus and Chelsea were thought to be in the running for his signature but it appears the Premier League side have stolen the march on the new Russia sensation and are getting close to signing him this summer for a fee of £27m.

The report by the Guardian also states that Golovin was linked with a move to Napoli last summer with Maurizio Sarri very interested in training with him. That makes sense as Chelsea have pushed for him in the last few weeks, as the Italian manager is also reported by the Daily Star, as being close to joining Chelsea this summer to replace Antonio Conte.
