Official: Chelsea confirm deal for talented midfielder
Chelsea have secured a season-long loan move for Scottish born academy midfielder Ruben Sammut, per reports.
The impressive 20-year-old star joined Chelsea just before his eighth birthday but he’s steadily ascended the grades of the club and has been a key figure for the reserves of the Blues.
Sammut captained the Blues B team last term and has the FA Youth Cup and a UEFA Youth trophy in his cabinet. His impressive display for the reserve Blues team has also earned him three Caps for the U21 side of Scotland.
He signed a one year extension with Chelsea before agreeing the loan move with Falkirk, and he’s expected to join Bairns squad ahead of their pre-season tour, per Chelsea.
“We are absolutely delighted to be able to bring a player of Ruben’s pedigree to the club.
“Ruben has been brought through and trained at an elite level having been with Chelsea from such a young age.
“I fully believe he has all the attributes to make a big impact in this league and I am really looking forward to working with him.
“He has massive potential and I think the opportunity for him now to experience first-team football will be of huge benefit to all parties.”
