Man United Leading Tottenham to sign £50m sensation could be a massive coup for Mourinho

According to reports in the Sun, Manchester United are in the race with Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona to sign £50m Ajax start Frenkie de Jong.
Express states that United manager Jose Mourinho is a keen admirer of the Dutch star and the club sent out scouts to watch him play the international games. They saw the 21-year-old play for the Netherlands against France in Paris.

The report further says that the Red Devils could use the club’s healthy relationship with Ajax to get a deal over the line. Former Manchester United goalkeeper and legend Edwin Van Der Sar is the CEO of the Dutch club. So, if the Red Devils do make the move, Ajax could negotiate.
Frenkie de Jong is a quality and versatile midfielder who can improve any team in European football if he continues to evolve in the next six months. Here’s why he could be a perfect fit for Manchester United and Mourinho:

Player Analysis – Frenkie de Jong

De Jong is a versatile midfielder who can play as a No.8 or as a No.6. To add to that, he can be deployed in a three-man central defence if needed. Some of his best attributes are his incisive passing, dribbling in tight situations and tackling to stop the opposition attacks. The good attribute of the 21-year-old is his ability to contribute in all phases of the game.
The Dutchman is tall enough (180cm) to win aerial duels and command the play with his neat passing, which stands at 91.9% in the Eredivisie this season. He has a tackle and interception rate of 1.4 and 1.4 per game respectively, which signifies his defensive contribution.

De Jong can be a creator as well as a destructor in central midfield. He is just the kind of player Mourinho would love to have in his team.
