Fekir move to Liverpool not over, says player’s agent

Liverpool have been given a huge boost in their pursuit of France international Nabil Fekir after the player’s agent Jean-Pierre Bernes revealed he could still join Liverpool this summer.

The Lyon captain’s proposed £53million move to Anfield dramatically fell through at the last minute earlier this month, much to the disappointment of Liverpool fans.

It was understood that Liverpool had agreed a fee with Lyon and personal terms with Fekir, only to back out at the last minute due to their unwillingness to spend so much.

It then seemed as if Jurgen Klopp would turn his attention to other targets, with Mario Gotze one of many attacking midfielders linked with a move to Anfield.

However, Bernes has now stated that the deal for Fekir is in no way finished, and could be revived after the World Cup is finished.

Asked on French TV channel LCI on Monday night why Fekir didn’t join Liverpool, he said: “He didn’t sign because um… it is not over! This is not the end of the story.”

Lyon have already insisted that they are not willing to renegotiate for the player and released a statement saying that they had put an end to negotiations with the Merseyside club. The club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas himself has also stated that Fekir will stay at the French side next season, but perhaps Bernes’ comments mean other wise.
