What Salah told Ramos after the UCL final: “I never told him it was okay”

Mohamed Salah has opened up on what he told Sergio Ramos after the Spaniard’s dangerous challenge in the Champions League final.

Mohamed Salah has opened up on the conversation he and Sergio Ramos shared after the Champions League final a fortnight ago.

Half an hour into the game, Ramos appeared to link his arm with Salah’s and wrestle the Egyptian to the ground during a challenge, resulting in the former Chelsea man leaving the field in tears with a shoulder injury.

After an incredible season that saw Salah win the PFA and FWA Player of the Year awards, LFC’s Player of the Year award and the Premier League golden boot, one could only feel heartbroken for Salah as he was prematurely robbed of the chance to help his team to Champions League glory.
Ramos last week claimed in an ‘interesting to say-the-least’ press conference that he and Salah had shared a conversation via message, clearing the air about the incident.


Ramos arrogantly told media: “Bloody hell, they’ve given this a lot of attention, the Salah thing… I spoke with Salah through messages, he was quite good. He could have played if he got an injection for the second half, I have done it sometimes but when Sergio Ramos does something like this, it sticks a little bit more.”

When asked on the comments in an interview with Marca however, Salah’s response suggested he was anything but.

“It’s funny,” he said when asked on Ramos direct comments on the incident.
“My comment is that it’s always okay when the one who made you cry first, then makes you laugh. Maybe he could also tell me if I’m going to be ready for the World Cup? He sent me a message, but I never told him it was okay.”

Recalling his exact thoughts at the time of the incident, Salah revealed: “When I fell to the ground, I had a mixture of physical pain and a lot of worry. Also anger and sadness for not being able to continue playing the Champions League final.

“Moments later, I also thought about the possibility of not playing in the World Cup and that was a devastating thought.”

Salah has been working constantly on his shoulder since the injury and hopes “to play the first game against Uruguay,” but it will depend on how much progress he makes between now and then.
