Arsenal & Chelsea In Talks To Sign 22-Year-Old South American Attacker

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal and Chelsea are linked with Cristian Pavon…

Arsenal and Chelsea are in talks with the agent of Boca Juniors winger Cristian Pavon about signing the Argentinean international this summer, according to reports via the Mirror.

Pavon came through the youth ranks at Talleres de Cordoba before joining Boca Juniors in 2014 and has impressed this season with 7 goals and 17 assists in his 31 appearances.

The 22-year-old’s form saw him break in to the Argentinean international set-up and he’s been named in Jorge Sampaoli’s 23-man squad for this summers World Cup finals in Russia.

Pavon has also caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League as the Mirror are reporting that Arsenal and Chelsea have been keeping a close eye on his progress in recent months.

It seems the London duo have now stepped-up their pursuits as the newspaper says both Arsenal and Chelsea have opened talks with Pavon’s representatives about a potential move to England.

New Gunners boss Unai Emery is expected to be busy in the transfer market rebuilding the squad left behind by Arsene Wenger and the Spaniard is being tipped to add some width to his attack.

The likes of Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are more effective from central areas so Arsenal could be eyeing Pavon as the man to add some natural width to their front line next season.

Chelsea are also expected to strengthen their squad this summer after missing out on the top four and they could view Pavon as a potential replacement for Willian amid speculation surrounding the future of the Brazilian star.

Any deal is unlikely to be completed any time soon as the Mirror says Boca want to keep hold of Pavon in the hope that a positive showing at the World Cup will boost his price tag.

However, the report does state that Boca are resigned to losing the South American winger and are already lining-up a replacement so Arsenal and Chelsea have a decent chance of landing Pavon if they could get a deal agreed.
