Napoli keen to sign out of favour Blues centre-back
Italian
Serie A outfit Napoli are believed to want to sign out of favour Chelsea
centre-back David Luiz this summer
The 31-year-old former Brazilian
international defender is rumoured to be set to leave Stamford Bridge this
summer after falling out with Blues boss Antonio Conte.
Luiz is out of contract at The
Bridge next summer and with the player far from assured a place in the Chelsea
starting XI, he is likely to be sold on to make way for potential new arrivals.
It has now been reported that newly-appointed
Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti is an admirer of Luiz and the Italian would like to
take the former UEFA Champions League winner to the Stadio San Paulo. The
Little Donkeys finished just four points behind title-winners Juventus this
season and Luiz’s experience could be welcomed by the Italian club.
Luiz made just 17 appearances for
Chelsea in 2017/2018 with the player rumoured to have had a disagreement with
manager Conte in early November. The centre-back barely featured for The Blues
after that alleged incident and was said to have missed the second half of the
season with both knee and ankle injuries.
It is thought that Luiz has now
returned to fitness and he will be ready and raring to go for the new campaign
whether that be with Chelsea or another club.
