Chelsea prepared to part company with £90,000-a-week star
Chelsea are prepared to cut their losses on England international Danny Drinkwater – less than a year after landing him for £30 million for the Premier League side Leicester City, according to the British national daily tabloid newspaper The Daily Mirror.
The 28-year-old Danny Drinkwater has struggled to become a systematic at Stamford Bridge this campaign and seen himself drop out of the England picture.
Danny was part of Leicester’s title-winning squad two years ago but made just five Premier League matches for Chelsea last campaign and is now surplus to requirements.
Ex-Leicester central midfielder Drinkwater has found himself behind Cesc Fabregas, N’Golo Kante and Tiemoue Bakayoko ahead of him in the central midfield pecking order.
The Blues are keen on Ligue 1 side OGC Nice’s defensive midfielder Jean Michael Seri and offloading Danny Drinkwater would help raise cash for Ivory Coast international.
OGC Nice midfielder has been in demand since previous summer, where Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona were all interested.
The French commercial radio network RTL report that Chelsea are in the advanced negotiations with OGC Nice over securing a deal for the sought-after star.
