Zinedine Zidane ‘put on standby’ for Manchester United job if Jose Mourinho is sacked

MANCHESTER UNITED have told Zinedine Zidane to keep himself free to place Jose Mourinho, according to reports.

The United boss looked to be on his way out of Old Trafford on Saturday as his side were two down inside ten minutes to Newcastle on Saturday.
But a second-half fightback looks to have bought Mourinho some time to turn things around before they go to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea after the international break.
However, the Mirror says Zidane has been asked to snub any job offers from elsewhere as the future of the United boss is still under a cloud.

The former Real Madrid manager is still their top choice and has been asked to wait in the wings if United's top brass decide to axe Mourinho.

After taking a sabbatical after two-and-a-half years at the Bernabeu, Zidane is keen on the United gig.
