Lacazette reacts to Aubameyang comparisons to Arsenal legend

Alexandre Lacazette has played down comparisons between Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Thierry Henry – but has backed his Arsenal team-mate to continue his prolific run.

The Gunners duo have made an impressive start to the Premier League season under Arsene Wenger’s successor Unai Emery and the pair are starting to flourish as a partnership at the north London side.
Emery opted to start Lacazette up front alongside Danny Welbeck for the trip to Fulham on Sunday afternoon and the France international scored twice either side of half-time at Craven Cottage.
Aubameyang replaced Welbeck in the second half and the Gabon international netted two quick-fire goals to help the Gunners record their biggest win under Emery so far.
Both Lacazette and Aubameyang have scored four goals in the Premier League this season to provide Arsenal with a real attacking threat up front.

In fact, only defending Premier League champions Manchester City have scored more goals than Arsenal’s tally of 19 in the top flight this term.
Aubameyang has also netted two times in the Europa League to net 16 goals in 23 games in all competitions to prompt comparisons to Arsenal’s greatest goal-scorer, Henry.

However, Lacazette, who moved to Arsenal from Lyon in 2017, believes it is difficult to compare the two strikers given their differing styles of play.
“It is hard to compare with Thierry because he came was younger and Auba is at the top of his career,” Lacazette told the Daily Express.

“But I hope Auba scores as many goals to help us win something. He is like my brother. We talk every day and we love working together.”

Lacazette completed a £52m move to Arsenal from Ligue 1 side Lyon in the 2017 summer transfer window to become the north London side’s most expensive player.
Arsenal eclipsed that fee when Aubameyang moved to the Gunners from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in a £58m deal in the January transfer window.

The north London side will welcome 2016 Premier League champions Leicester City in their next top-flight fixture at The Emirates on Monday 22 October.

The Gunners are in fourth place in the Premier League table thanks to their impressive six-game winning run.
