But which players performed best?
RB: Hector Bellerin (Arsenal)
In Arsenal’s thrashing of Fulham, Bellerin was solid down the right and setup Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for his strike that made it 4-1.
Maurizio Sarri will have been pleased with another top performance from Rudiger. The Blues centre-half is fast becoming an integral member of their side and is building a solid partnership with David Luiz.
CB: Willy Boly (Wolves)
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men picked up a hard-fought 1-0 win away at Crystal Palace, and the Frenchman’s assured display at the back was crucial in their success.
LB: Benjamin Mendy (Manchester City)
Perhaps up against the most feared attacker the league has to offer in Mohamed Salah, City left-back Mendy managed to tame the Egyptian while performing well himself in a stalemate away at Liverpool.
The Gunners midfielder got on the scoresheet in a 5-1 triumph away at Fulham with the classiest of finishes, producing a neat back-heel to cap an impressive move.
CM: Ross Barkley (Chelsea)
In a strong win for the Blues away at Southampton, Barkley was excellent - netting his first goal for the club after also teeing up Eden Hazard to open the scoring.
After starting on the bench at the Craven Cottage, the Gunners ace still managed to bag a brilliant brace in what proved a more-than comfortable win for Unai Emery’s men.
LW: Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
When fit and firing it is more of a surprise to not see Chelsea’s Belgian wizard in a team of the week. Barkley was the Blues’ man of the match, but Hazard opened the scoring with his seventh goal of the campaign and was, again, flawless.
Another member of the Gunners attack who wowed in west London yesterday afternoon. The Frenchman added two goals to his tally for the campaign and is developing into one of the most deadly strikers in the division.
FW: Josh King (Bournemouth)
The most surprising result of the weekend was the Cherries’ 4-0 away drubbing of Watford. King was outstanding in that victory, scoring twice for Eddie Howe’s men. His team-mate Callum Wilson is unlucky to miss out, too.
