Kevin Kilbane believes that Liverpool FC will be Manchester City’s closest challengers for the Premier League title this season.
The Reds will be aiming to try and make a positive start to the new campaign as they look to try and be one of the main title contenders this term.Liverpool FC have been very busy in the summer transfer market, with the Reds having brought in Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson Becker so far ahead of next season.
Manchester City are the clear favourites to retain their title after their brilliant campaign last season saw them set a record points tally of 100.
And although Kilbane is expecting to see Pep Guardiola’s men retain their crown, he is tipping Liverpool FC to run them close to the title.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Sport, Kilbane said: “I have tipped City because of the way they played last season, and how they play but it would not surprise me if Liverpool won the league.”
Liverpool FC have been earning plenty of praise for their strong performances under Klopp since his appointment back in 2015.
The Reds ended up in fourth place in the table last season and as runners-up in the Champions League after they were beaten by Real Madrid in the final.
Liverpool FC are still looking to win their first trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in October 2015.
