Liverpool forward Sadio Mane will be the first Reds player to achieve this new record if he scores against Crystal Palace

Mane and co. travel to Selhurst Park for their Premier League game against the Eagles on Monday night

Sadio Mane got his 2018/19 season off to a great start with a brace during Liverpool’s 4-0 opening weekend victory over West Ham.

The Senegal international became the first Liverpool player since John Barnes to score in three consecutive season-openers – and he’s in with a chance of achieving another goalscoring record when the Reds travel to Crystal Palace on Monday night.

If Mane finds the net at Selhurst Park in what will be his 150th appearance in English football, he will become the first Liverpool player to net in three successive league meetings with Palace.

Mane will be feeling confident he can do that as he has already scored five Premier League goals against the Eagles in his career so far – more goals than any other team.

The clash promises to be a high scoring game too as in the 18 Premier League matches between the two sides, 63 goals have been scored at an average of 3.5 goals per game.
