Manchester United set to rival Manchester City for the signature of 21 years Champions League captain

Manchester City and Manchester United are set to take their rivalry to the transfer market when the transfer window reopens in January.

The Premier League rivals are reportedly interested in signing Wolves’ midfield ace, Ruben Neves, and a £60 million offer from both of them is expected at Molinuex.

Manchester City have been long term admirers of Neves as Guardiola looks to add the former FC Porto captain who became the club’s youngest ever Champions League game captain.
Guardiola was expected to sign a new midfielder in the last transfer window, but he failed to sign Jorginho who joined Chelsea instead and also lost in the race to sign Fred who joined Manchester United instead.

Douglas Luiz was expected to deputize for Fernandinho this season, but he has been denied a work permit, a situation that left Guardiola fuming as the verdict came on the final day of the transfer window.

Guardiola thinks Neves has the perfect qualities he wants from his midfielders, and after watching him score a stunning free kick on the opening day of the season, and impressing against his team when they visited last week, the Catalan is plotting a January swoop.

However, Jose Mourinho has learnt of his rival’s interest and has told the Red Devils to make a move for the midfielder as well.
