Anthony Martial looks set to stay at Manchester United after signing 12-month contract on new house in Hale, Cheshire

ANTHONY MARTIAL looks set to stay at Manchester United this season - after reportedly signing a lease on a new house.

The France star, 22, was linked with an Old Trafford exit after a high-profile falling out with Jose Mourinho this summer.

Tottenham, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Sevilla were all linked with a move for the highly-rated striker.

The lease on the house Martial had been living in ran out in the summer and, after being fined for leaving United's pre-season tour to be at the birth of his son, added to speculation he was set to quit.

But it would appear he is going nowhere after taking a 12-month let on a home in Hale, Cheshire, according to The Sunday Mirror.

The pad is just a 20-minute drive from Carrington and is near where many of his United team-mates live.

Mourinho blasted Martial for failing to return to United's pre-season camp in Los Angeles after jetting to Paris to be with girlfriend Melanie Da Cruz for the birth of their son Swan.

The Red Devils manager apparently wants rid of the former Monaco ace before the transfer window shuts but United's board are refusing to sell.

The Sunday Telegraph claims Martial has been so heartened by this show of faith that he is ready to stay and fight for a place in the team despite his uneasy relationship with Mourinho.

Martial was an unused sub in United's Premier League opener against Leicester and was hauled off after 60 minutes in last weekend's 3-2 defeat at Brighton.

Philippe Lamboley said: "After thinking about all the factors and possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United.

"There are lots of factors, and right now it's too early to talk about them.

"I think that when United, the most powerful club in the world, do not find an agreement after eight months of negotiations then they do not really want to keep such an important player in their squad. That's why this decision has come - it's a well-thought-out decision.

"Everyone will have their opinion but I think he needs to resume his career. The time has come."
