UEFA release their list of the top ten players of the 2017-2018 season

Luka Modric ended up beating both Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohammed Salah to the UEFA’s Best Player Of the Year, and UEFA has released their list of the top ten players in the world.

The Real Madrid star has been in scintillating form for the Los Blancos and Croatia, for which he was well-rewarded with the Golden Ball and now the UEFA’s Best Player of the Year. However, he wasn’t the only Real Madrid star to walk away with a trophy, and the Santiago Bernabeu side dominated the awards ceremony.

While he has been replaced by Thibaut Courtois, Keylor Navas won the Best Goalkeeper and Sergio Ramos won the Best Defender. UEFA player of the year, Luka Modric won the best midfielder and the great Cristiano Ronaldo walked away with the best forward. However, the biggest surprise was the lack of Lionel Messi’s name amid the processions, let alone other Barcelona stars.

While they did suffer a rather humiliating defeat to AS Roma in the quarter-finals, many believe that Luka Modric wasn’t the one to lift the Best Player of the Year award. While it may be the end of the of an era dominated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Modric’s critics have further added going on to say “Football is played on the field and that’s where Cristiano won.

He scored 15 goals, carried Real Madrid on his back and conquered the Champions League again. It’s ridiculous, shameful. The winner is not in doubt as Ronaldo is the best in his position.”

But regardless of what happens, UEFA has finally released a list of everything that has happened, which includes the full list of the top ten players who were in the running.
