Forget Xhaka! Gunners legend Dixon tells Emery to play £26 million man Torreira ahead of flop!

Gunners legend Lee Dixon has urged boss Unai Emery to replace Granit Xhaka with £26 million summer signing Lucas Torreira.

Torreira had a stunning world cup with Uruguay and showed the whole of Europe just how good he is, and could be if he continues his current rate of development.

He has been brought into the Emirates to fill a problem which Arsene Wenger couldn’t solve, a solid holing midfielder that will protect the back-line but also had some creativity and quality to the clubs already impressive attack.

But as he is still getting used to life in England, he was once again limited to a substitute appearance against Chelsea at the weekend as Unai Emery looks to get him fully fit before giving him a regular starting spot.

However, Dixon claims the £26.5m summer signing made a “massive difference” when he came on as a substitute in the 3-2 defeat against Chelsea and now needs to replace the very disappointing Xhake.

Speaking on NBC, Arsenal legend Dixon said: “Torreira was a massive difference as soon as he came on.

“He needs to play.”
Here is what we think.
Xhaka is a young man that is not cut out to play for such a big club like Arsenal, as he is simply always one step behind the play in big games and always looks like he is a deer lost in the headlights.
It was a massive shock to see that he earned a brand new contract to stay at Arsenal when Emery arrived, and many actually thought the club were only giving him a new contract so they could sell on for a bigger fee.

So to see him start the Premier League season when Torreira is much more effective, now leaves Emery with a big problem as he wants to be loyal to the players that were here before he arrived, but also give into the fact Torreira is the way forward for the club.

Xhaka is a solid squad member, but Torreira should be starting for Arsenal from now on.
