Alex Sanchez sends transfer plea to Jose Mourinho, reveals Why United can compete

Today marks the end of the transfer window with many managers trying to bring new signings to their clubs. United have had a disappointing pre-season in terms of transfers with manager Mourinho Moaning about the club’s inability to bring promised targets.

Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez has waded into the debate and urged the club board to sign big players ahead of the deadline today. The United ace made this statements while speaking to Skysports, Sanchez believes United need to make a statement signing to have a chance of winning the trophies.

The 29-year-old made reference to Barcelona’s acquisition of fellow countryman Arturo Vidal and revealed that such type of signings are needed to take the club forward.

“At United we have to sign big players, with experience. Barcelona just signed Arturo Vidal, who is a great player and my team-mate from Chile. He is an example of the type of players we need to sign in order to win trophies and compete at the highest level.”
United have signed three players this summer bringing in Brazilian midfielder Fred, Fullback Diogo Dalot and Veteran stopper Lee Grant. Out of the three signings, only Fred can be considered a starter which is a big worry for Mourinho.

United have been linked to centre-backs Toby Alderweireld, Jerome Boateng and Harry Maguire but look set to end the season empty-handed.

Sanchez would be hoping to rediscover his form this season as he adjusts to a full season since his high profile transfer from Arsenal last January.
