Chelsea & Cardiff injury report: Six players are doubts, five have knee problems

Chelsea vs Cardiff City

Will Chelsea have five wins from five matches after they face Cardiff City on Saturday?
Along with Liverpool and Watford, Chelsea are the early pacesetters in the Premier League.
Maurizio Sarri is yet to taste defeat at Stamford Bridge. And many will be expecting Chelsea to pick up maximum points against Cardiff.
Cardiff are 16th in the league with two points from their opening four fixtures.
Last time out Cardiff lost 3-2 at home to Arsenal.

Chelsea: Three players with knee problems

Sarri almost has a fully fit squad to choose from when Cardiff arrive in west London.
In fact, Sarri’s only really headache surrounds Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
Fabregas has been sidelined for several weeks with his knee complaint.

During the international break, Cesc has revealed how his comeback has been progressing on the Chelsea training pitch.

Would Fabregas even get into the Blues XI if fit? That’s in doubt.
Sarri has turned Chelsea into a 4-3-3 team this season.

Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic appear to be the preferred trio in Chelsea’s midfield.
Chelsea also have two fringe players out with knee problems. They include Marco van Ginkel and Izzy Brown, who are both long term absentees with ACL setbacks.

Cardiff’s selection problems

Cardiff are also dealing with players with knee problems.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is definitely out of the Chelsea game. He’s suffering with a posterior cruciate injury which may keep him out until December.

Aron Gunnarsson is also nursing a knee injury. However the Icelandic international has returned to training.

Cardiff’s final injury concern is over Josh Murphy, who has a knock.
