Arsenal set to make January approach for 23-year-old La Liga winger

Arsenal are keeping close tabs on Portugal international Gelson Martins following his move to Atletico Madrid.
The winger signed for Spanish side on a six-year deal after his contract at Sporting Lisbon was terminated by mutual consent.

The attacker, along with several other Sporting players, finished their contracts following a fan-led attack on the club’s training ground and the Daily Star is reporting, Everton are one of many teams watching Gelson Martins.
The Merseysiders along with Manchester City and Tottenham are all also believed to be keeping a close eye on the 23-year-old.
Gelson Martins managed to score 13 goals and add 13 assists in all competitions for Sporting the last term but is yet to start a competitive match for La Liga giants. He has been restricted to two substitute cameos in the domestic league, as he adapts to life outside of Portugal.
Arsenal will be looking to see if he is available to sign at any point in the near future as Unai Emery is desperate to add a wideman to his team.

The Gunners tried to sign Ousmane Dembele this summer, but Ernesto Valverde has blocked the deal as he spoke directly to Barcelona’s chiefs.
