Mateo Kovacic reveals how Man United man is helping him improve his game

Mateo Kovacic admits to watching YouTube videos of United’s legend Paul Scholes.
Kovacic joined Chelsea this summer after a staggering spell at Real Madrid.
The midfielder endured an unhappy experience under former boss Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu.
Kovacic now on a season-long loan deal at Chelsea, pressed for a release this summer from the club after yearning to play regularly.

The Croatian was finally given a nod of approval to joined the former Premier League champions and so far, has been a crux in Sarri’s three-pronged midfield.
Every player has someone they look on to for improvement, and Kovacic’s is United legend Paul Scholes.

Though he steals ideas from Scholes, the United legend is not his only teacher. Kovacic admits to also watching videos clips of midfield enforcers Lucas Modric and Andrés Iniesta.

When asked about players who motivate his game play, Kovacic told the Sun: “Every player has to be himself— but for me Scholes was one of the best ever.
“He was amazing. I still enjoy watching his videos on YouTube. Sometimes I go home and watch him to learn something new.

“He had everything, he was the modern midfielder — scoring goals, defending well, tackling. I don’t copy anybody but I do like to watch Scholes. I also watch other players to see what I can do better.
‘Players like Luka Modric and Andres Iniesta, too.”

Scholes notched up 115 goals in 718 appearances for United, a tally Kovacic, 24, has confessed, he’ll need to scoring to stamp his mark with the greats at the top.
