Unai Emery wanted Serie A versatile midfielder at Arsenal

Arsenal Spanish coach Unai Emery reportedly wanted to bring Serie A giants Juventus German midfielder Sami Khedira to Gunners this summer but failed in a move for the Bianconeristar, according to the latest reports.
Football news Italian website Calciomercato.com report that both Arsenal and Manchester United failed in a move to sign the former Real Madrid player, with his long-term future in Turin up in the air throughout the transfer window.
The arrival of Emre Can from EPL giants Liverpool cast doubts over the amount of playing time Khedira would get at the club this term, with the German reaching the latter stages of his professional career.
Germany international central midfielder was connected with several moves away from the Old Lady but opted to remain in Turin.
Instead, he put pen to paper on a fresh contract extension with the Serie A champions recently, keeping him with the Old Lady until 2021.

Unai Emery made the midfield one of the key zones he had to strengthen this summer and did just that through the signings of Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira.
