Cristiano Ronaldo and Fabinho among the 10 biggest bargains of summer 2018

There were plenty of massive deals across Europe’s big five leagues this summer, but who got the best value for money?

A new study by CIES Football Observatory has revealed the players in the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga who were signed for the lowest prices in relation to their estimated transfer values.

CIES calculate the estimated values of every player themselves by taking into account factor such as age, contract length and performance levels.

The results are fascinating, with Cristiano Ronaldo among the 10 best value signings despite the fact he was the most expensive purchase of the summer.

According to the CIES data, the Portuguese ace moved for £93.55m, £10.25m less than his true worth.

The biggest bargain of the summer though, was landed by Ronaldo’s old club Real Madrid.
The European champion snapped up Chelsea goalkeeper for around £35m, when he was valued at over £55m.

Liverpool signing Fabinho and Arsenal new boy Lucas Torreira also feature in the top 10.
