Kenedy’s Chelsea comments haven’t surprised Newcastle United fans on Twitter

It’s been a strange season indeed for Newcastle United’s loan star, Kenedy. Having originally moved to the Magpies for six months back in January, the brilliant Brazilian initially looked a godsend on Tyneside. Crucial in their vast improvement in the post-New Year period last season, the Chelsea loanee was expected to kick on when he came back over the summer. 

However, this season hasn’t panned out that way for the 22-year-old. Where he was brilliant last term, he’s bombed this time around, putting in perhaps one of the worst ever Premier League performances against Cardiff City last month.

So, recent comments from Kenedy revealing he’d like to return to Chelsea and win a major trophy are somewhat surprising. Granted, a player of his obvious natural ability will be hard to keep for the Magpies, though speaking so boldly after a terrible season start seems a bit rushed.

”I hope this year I can make a good season for Newcastle and go back to Chelsea to continue”, he told Brazilian website UOL via the Chronicle.

”I have a dream to return and to be a champion for the club.”

Such is the South American’s standing at St. James’ Park, his comments were always likely to spark a reaction. With that in mind, here’s a closer look at it.

At the end of the day Kenedy is a Chelsea player. We can't expect him to think much other than that long term.
