Transfer News: Manchester United and Chelsea set to miss out on Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi

The Argentina international looks set to sign a contract extension, to keep him at the San Siro
Mauro Icardi is set to snub interest from Manchester United and Chelsea and sign a contract extension with Inter Milan, according to reports.

However, the Serie A giants are keen to tie the 25-year-old down to a new deal to ward off interest from abroad.

Manchester United and Chelsea have all linked with Icardi for the past year and a failure to commit his long-term future to the club has led to speculation he could leave the club.

And now, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, both parties seem to have reached an agreement and confirmation of a new contract for the striker should be announced in the coming days.
Icardi is yet to score from his two Serie A appearances this season

The report states that Inter have offered Icardi a £5million per-year deal, which would tie him down until 2023.
