Deal On: Chelsea determined to sign €35m La Liga Defensive Rock

Chelsea have opened talks with Spanish giants Sevilla centre-back Clement Lenglet over a summer move to Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United made a ‘concrete’ approach for the 22-year-old defender earlier last week and their interest in the defender has alerted the Blues, who have been keeping tabs on French centre-back since the January transfer window.
Lenglet caught Jose Mourinho’s attention when Spanish giants knocked out them from Champion League 1/16 tie.

However, Chelsea are believed that they have offered Lenglet a more significant opportunity of first-team football and Marina Granovskaia held talks with the representatives of French defender.
Chelsea are still pursuing targets ahead of the new season despite the ongoing doubt surrounding the Blues head-coach Antonio Conte.

The Red Devils signed Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot last week. However, Mourinho is keen on adding a centre-back to his team.

Tottenham centre-back Toby Alderweireld is Mourinho’s priority. However, the Belgian is valued at around £70m.

Lenglet was signed by Sevilla for €5 million during the January transfer window of 2017 and the Frenchman has also attracted interest from Sevilla’s La Liga rivals Barcelona.

The centre-back has a €35m (£30.7m) release clause in his deal and reports from Spain claim that Barcelona are on the verge to secure his services despite interest from Man Utd and Chelsea.
