Chelsea quoted £53m to complete first summer signing

Chelsea are reportedly targeting Lyon starlet Tanguy Ndombele as a potential replacement for midfield ace N’golo Kante.

Chelsea chiefs are taking this contingency steps as they brace up for a bid from PSG for the star midfielder. Kante is reportedly the number one target of new PSG coach Thomas Tuchel, with PSG expected to submit an official bid for the 27-year-old.

N’Dombele had an impressive season in the heart of the midfield for the seven-time Ligue 1 champions as they finished 3rd in Ligue 1 last season. The midfielder, whose tenacious play has drawn a comparison with Blues legend Makelele, made a big impact in the midfield alongside Liverpool target Nabil Fekir.

His performances have alerted many clubs with Liverpool, Chelsea, and PSG among those linked to the 21-year-old. However, Chelsea rivals Tottenham appear to be the front-runners with French outlet L’Equipe claiming talks has begun with the north London outfit over the sale of Ndombele.

Chelsea are also in the mix to sign the midfielder who has a release clause worth £53 million, though the Blues main priority is to keep Kante for next season and reports claim the midfielder is not for sale. Chelsea have been surprisingly quiet in the transfer window this summer.

This may be as a result of the uncertainty in the managerial position, as current first team coach Conte is struggling to keep his Job. Ex Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri is expected to succeed Conte as the head coach for next season.
