Official: Belgian attacking midfielder confirms why he completed Man United transfer

Belgian star Indy Boonen has revealed why he left Manchester United for his country club K.V. Oostende, this is according to report.

The 19-year-old star arrived Manchester United in 2015 for trials, after impressing in training, he was snapped by the Red Devils in the Sept of the same year.

Dubbed as an attacking midfielder with bags of creativity in his armory and highly rated in the B-team of United, he was restricted to only 12 starts and failed to save the reserves of United from relegation from Premier League Two last term.

United wanted to keep the star and handed him a new deal but the Belgian knocked back the offers to link up with his former manager Gert Verheyen at K.V. Oostende.

Verheyen  managed the U19 squad of Belgium and Boonen was one of his players at that time. The rising reveals that he opted against signing a three year deal with United so he could play regularly.

“I could have signed a new three-year deal with United but I want playing time,” he told MEN Sport.
“I previously worked with the coach from the under-19s in the Belgium national team and he is the first-team coach now.

“We had a good conversation and I think I will have a lot of opportunities.

“It was a bit tough to leave but after last season with Ricky [Sbragia], sometimes he didn’t play me and that. It was a bit frustrating.” Reports M.E.N
