The representative of Belgium international star Toby Alderweireld is
in England to secure the defender’s switch to Manchester United.
Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho has been interested in landing
Alderweireld from Tottenham since the previous summer and the
29-year-old is prepared to reject all other clubs in order to sign for
the Red Devils.
Alderweireld was initially rated at £75million by Spurs but the north
London club have lowered their asking price to £60 million for the
centre-back.
The Belgian star is tied into a contract until next June
and Tottenham Hotspur have the option to extend it by one more year –
but triggering this clause could see the central defender leave for just
£25m throughout a two-week period at the end of next summer.
According to The Times, Toby’s agent is on standby in case Manchester United make a last-ditch offer to land his client.
Stijn Francis is currently in Manchester to fly to England to wrap up a summer deal should Manchester United come calling.
Harry Maguire, Jerome Boateng, Yerry Mina are also on the Red Devil’s
radar but Alderweireld remains Mourinho’s number one target in defence.
