Could Harry Maguire heading Man United in January
Man United boss Jose Mourinho attempted to sign Leicester City
centre-back Harry Maguire this summer after his excellent displays for
England at the World Cup.
But the defender putted a stop to any speculation linking linking him away from the Foxes by signing a new deal to keep him longer at the King Power Stadium.
Reports have revealed that Maguire’s new contract at Leicester will see him to start to collect £80,000-a-week against £45,000 a week he was receiving before.
But according to bookmaker Coral Maguire can still move to the Old Trafford, and put an end Mourinho’s need for a new centre-back.
By January, Mourinho is expected to continue his quest for a new defender who can add solidity to the United’s back, and Maguire is now 10-11 to make the switch in when the transfer window reopen in January.
Rightly put by Coral’s John Hill, even though Jose Mourinho didn’t land his target in the summer, there is possibility of the player make the move in either January or next summer, because Mourinho is clearly a big fan of Maguire.
However, Maguire’s new deal at Leicester is a good development for the club, says former Premier League and England striker Emile Heskey, who believe despite ongoing interest from United, the 25-year-old can now put his focus back to football.
Heskey added that signing a new deal is a great news for the club, the fans and for Maguire himself, following all the speculation surrounding Could Jose Mourinho sign Harry Maguire in January?
