Big blow for Mourinho as player agrees $21.4m move elsewhere

Big blow for Mourinho as player agrees $21.4m move elsewhere

Manchester United have missed out on the signature of Ajax star, Justin Kluivert after the player’s decision to complete a $21.4million (£16million) move to AS Roma.

The 19-year-old has been a revelation for Ajax since he broke into their first team three seasons ago, helping them reach the Europa League final in 2017 where they lost to Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho had kept in touch with the attacker and was looking to make a move for him after the season that just came to an end.

However, the young forward has decided to join Roma due to a concern over how much playing time he would have received at United.

Kluivert’s father also wanted him to remain at Ajax for at least one more season, but he has decided to move to Italy this summer anyway.

The Dutchman’s signing was announced by Roma after he had been in demand around Europe with Everton and Tottenham also making efforts to bring him to the Premier League.
