Contact made- Chelsea close in on announcing 1st summer signing
Chelsea have made enquiry for AS Roma star Alessandro Florenzi, according to the Metro via Gazzetta dello Sport report.
The Blues are keen to start their transfer business and could make Florenzi their first signing despite report surrounding the imminent departure of Antonio Conte.
The report further claims that Chelsea have made contact with Roma with the midfielder, who can also play full-back, potentially set to leave the club.
The 27-year-old is on a deal until next summer though talks of a contract extension have broken down; Roma may be willing to sell him now to avoid losing him for free in 2019. It is claimed the club are unwilling to meet his wage demands.
Florenzi spent eight years in Roma’s academy and has since played over 200 games for the Serie A side.
The Italian played over 40 games for Roma last season, featuring against Chelsea and Liverpool in the Champions League.
