Chelsea on the verge of losing star Defender but want to tie influential star down to new deal

Chelsea defender David Luiz is set to receive a new deal from the club after he made a brilliant start to the season straight from the fringes of last season.
Under Antonio Conte, Luiz failed last season in the famous 3-5-2 formation but is flourishing under Maurizio Sarri in the 4-3-3 system, alongside Antonio Rudiger. Sarri flanks the two center backs with Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso instead of the five back system the club has been treated to for the past two seasons.
His rise to fine form means other Chelsea center backs struggle to get into the team, including Gary Cahill who is said to be interested in leaving Stamford Bridge in January or in the summer when his contract expires.

That has alerted the Blues to the possibility of losing two senior players in the defensive department in the coming years and are now ready to award Luiz with a new deal, according to the Evening Standard.

Luiz needs just two more starts to match the number of games he started last season under Conte. Sarri has restored him to the starting 11 and the Brazil star’s displays have not proven the Italian coach wrong.
