21-year-old versatile attacker chose Arsenal over Bayern Munich

Argentina star Matias Vargas has named Arsenal as his preferred destination amid rumours he could make the switch to Europe.

The winger has been compared to Eden Hazard in his homeland due to his dribbling skills and desire to play down the left wing, drifting into central areas.
The 21-year-old bagged ten assists in the Argentinian top-flight last term for Velez Sarsfield, second only to another Arsenal target Cristian Pavon in the list of the division’s best creators.

It was a string of quality performances of form that earned him a call-up to the national team and his rise has now lead to rumours of a move to compete with his idols, Lionel Messi and David Silva.
“My dream is the same as most,” he told Goal.com earlier this year, “I want to play a World Cup and win it.”
When given with a list of top European sides, including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool Matias Vargas had only one answer: “The Arsenal.”

The attacker later explained that his decision was influenced by his father, Omar Francisco ‘Mono’ Vargas, who had instructed his son to follow the Gunners from a young age.
