Rodrigo, who recently featured for Uruguay as they made the quarter-final phase at the World Cup, is said to be on Barcelona’s radar, so the north London club might need to act rapidly if they do want to complete a deal to land him.
The hard-working, dynamic, versatile midfielder wasn’t a regular in the Old Lady team last season, and as the Turin-based club look to make major improvements this transfer market, they could decide to let Rodrigo leave.
Emery has already signed Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Matteo Guendouzi, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Lucas Torreira, and if these reports are to be believed, Rodrigo could be the next player he brings to the Emirates.
