Liverpool agree personal terms with £22 million World Cup final star

Liverpool have reached an agreement on personal terms with Besiktas’ Demagoj Vida over a summer transfer to Anfield, but they need to meet Besiktas’ £22 million valuation before completing the move.

The Reds have reportedly offered him a two years contract, with the option of a third that can be triggered by the club.

Vida joined Besiktas for free only last winter, but he went on to star for Croatia in the just concluded World Cup in Russia. He played in 6 matches as the Europeans reached the final, only to lose to France.

His performances have attracted the attention of several top teams, but Liverpool seem to be leading the race for his signature.

The Reds are in need of at least one more centre back after Joel Matip pulled up injured, just 20 minutes into their match against Borussia Dortmund. His replacement, Joe Gomez is also injury-prone and leaves Liverpool with just Dejan Lovren, Virgil van Dijk and Ragnar Klavan as defenders who have a better injury record.

Jurgen Klopp has spent big this summer and he knows that it is time for him to deliver at least one trophy, he would not want his defence to be the reason they cannot achieve their goals again this season.
