Serie A £81m-rated star to snub Man United in favour of EPL rivals move

Manchester United’s chances of landing Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic have been reduced by the Serbian’s determination to join league rivals Chelsea instead.
The Red Devils have tracked the 23-year-old midfielder for the last 12 months and held preliminary negotiations with Lazio in April over a switch to Old Trafford.

The Serie A club were looking for around £100 million to part with the all-around midfielder and were unwilling to sanction his sale before the World Cup, where his name was enhanced by a string of fine displays for Serbia.
Manchester United’s interest in Sergej has since cooled and the Serbian star appears to have been put off the switch too with the Independent stating he favours a transfer to the Blues instead.

The report states those close to the central midfielder believe he wants to switch to Stamford Bridge and, though Chelsea harbour the same doubts over a deal that the Red Devils had, the Blues believe he could be the club’s talisman for years to come.

The west London club’s chances of signing the midfielder could hinge on the club’s ability to retain the services of Eden Hazard.
