The newspaper report that the Senegal international is not actively seeking a pay rise, but the club are keen to reward him for his progress since signing in 2016.
The Mail claim that the Reds have informed Mane’s agent that they would be swiftly offering him a new contract after he played such a key role in their run to the Champions League final last season.
It has long been speculated that Mane would be handed a new long-term deal this summer, and that now looks likely to happen very soon. With the Senegal international still having three years left on his current contract, the likelihood is that he will now put pen to paper on a deal which will keep him at Anfield for five further years. This is a sensible move from Liverpool as they look to secure the long-term futures of their favoured front three, who played such a key role in their brilliant campaign last time round. Mane at times was the unsung hero in that group, with Mo Salah obviously taking most of the plaudits while Roberto Firmino morphed into a complete striker up front for the Reds last season. It will be good to see the 26-year-old rewarded for his brilliant form with a new deal, and Liverpool will hope he continues his brilliant form into the new season as they look to mount a sustained challenge for the Premier League title.
