Chelsea Official’s Set to Travel in Italy to Sign Spanish Stopper

Chelsea have reportedly stepped up their interest in Serie A giants AC Milan stopper Pepe Reina by sending a delegation to the Italian capital in the hope of getting the deal done.

The Spanish keeper, who has previously spent close to a decade in English football with the Merseyside Reds have, only joined the Rossoneri at the beginning of the month following the expiration of his deal at Serie A.

That has not stopped speculation mounting that Spanish goalie could be on his way back to the English top-tier, however, and Tuttosport reported that a £5m bid has now been prepared for his signature.

Despite bringing in veteran stopper Rob Green to provide competition for next campaign, the Blues new head-coach Maurizio Sarri is believed to be keen on reuniting with Spaniard, having worked with the 35-year-old for three campaigns at Napoli.

The same report indicates that Serie A giants will consider the Blues offer, with a healthy profit to be made if they cash in on their new signing.
