According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Manchester United defender
Matteo Darmian has revealed that he wants to leave the Red Devils and
there seems to be a host of Italian clubs that are keen on acquiring his
services.
Napoli look like they are the closest to landing the 28-year-old, as
the club’s owner, Aurelio di Laurentiis, recently confirmed that the
club have made a loan offer for the all-around defender, which will then
become a permanent switch next summer.
Darmian, who moved to the Red Devils from Torino in 2015, wants to
leave the Premier League giants as he is not getting the playing time
that he wants – last campaign, he made just 8 Premier League matches.
With Antonio Valencia and new defender Diego Dalot both seemingly
ahead of Matteo in the pecking order, it makes sense that Italian is
looking for another club.
However, Matteo might not be allowed to
depart from the club this transfer window as Dalot and Valencia are both
currently out injured, leaving Manchester United extremely short of
right-backs ahead of their opening EPL game against Leicester on the 8th
August.
