Arsenal set to battle it out with EPL rivals for highly-rated out-of-contract star

Arsenal are stimulating themselves for surprise stiff competition from the Premier League side Crystal Palace in the race to land free agent Max Meyer.
The Daily Mail states the German star is on the radar of the English manager Roy Hodgson, who is known to be working on a small budget this transfer market.

Germany international is currently a free agent after his contract at Bundesliga club Schalke expired this summer.
The German midfielder is yet to agree on his next transfer and has been heavily connected with a move to the Premier League in the past, but there is also understood to be interest from France and other Bundesliga teams.

The Gunners were said to be interested in bringing him to North London, but it was reported that Meyer’s wage demands were deemed too high.

Meyer left the German club on bad terms, in spite of enjoying a successful season at the club. Concerns regarding of his future at the club saw him fall out with coach Domenico Tedesco.


However, Max thrived under Todesco, who utilised the star in a deeper midfield role compared to the more attacking role he has been known to play in.
