Ed Woodward’s ‘transfer war’ with Jose Mourinho revealed

Ed Woodward vs Jose Mourinho

The Daily Mail’s Dominic King has gone to print on Monday morning with more bad news for Man United.

With less than two weeks to go until the new Premier League starts, Man United’s chief exec and manager can’t see eye to eye.

Indeed, the Mail claim that Ed Woodward and Jose Mourinho are embroiled in a “transfer war”.

Man United’s transfer problems

There are several statements made in the Daily Mail which will make Man United fans very unhappy.
First is the almost unbelievable suggestions that Jose Mourinho is being refused extra funds in the transfer market.

Readers are told that “Sportsmail understands that Woodward is reluctant to release more funds”.
Man United have spent more than 70 million pounds this summer on three players: Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant.

But it must be remembered that Man United finished last season a staggering 19 points behind champs Man City.

The truth is that Man United’s summer additions have failed to close the gap between United and City.

Mourinho told ‘sell, then buy’

Other scary sentences for Man United fans to read are “Jose Mourinho’s relationship with Ed Woodward is at an all-time low with the pair at loggerheads over Manchester United’s transfer policy.”

The article also tails off with the claim that “Mourinho cannot buy unless he sells first.”

Premier League sack race: Next manager off

Who will be the first manager to be sacked in the 2018-19 Premier League?

Interestingly the bookies have Mourinho as the second favourite for the chop.

Mourinho is 7/1 to be the first manager axed this season.

The only manager above Mourinho in the pecking order is Watford’s Javi Gracia.

The Watford boss is 6/1 for the first P45 of the season.
