Barcelona close to signing the highly rated Premier League star

Barcelona will reportedly hold talks about signing a highly rated Premier League youngster over the weekend, after being impressed by his performances in the U19 UEFA Championships.

The La Masia was once the pinnacle of youth football, with players from all over the world wanting to join Barcelona’s esteemed academy. Now, however, things have changed with La Masia producing fewer and fewer world-class stars which has seen Barcelona spend heavily in the transfer market over the last few years or so.

From the likes of Bojan to Munir-El Haddi have all failed to impress for Barcelona at higher levels despite showing immense promise at an early age. But it’s not just players failing to impress at a higher level, with the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Hector Bellerin and many others leaving La Masia for more first-team chances in England, Germany, Italy and all over the world, expect Barcelona.
But now it looks like things have changed, along with Barcelona’s transfer policy with the Catalan giants targeting youngsters like Arthur Melo, Malcom, Marcus McGuane among others. Now, they have settled on yet another Premier League starlet but this time from West Ham United. Domingos Quina has been a gem in the Hammer’s stables and has been at his very best in the U19 European Championship.
Earlier reports indicated that Barcelona was sending officals to scout and watch the 18 year old West Ham star in Finaland, and it looks like they were true. Quina was influential as Portugal beat Ukraine 5-0 in the semi-final and it looks like, his performances were more than enough to impress the Barcelona officials. With further reports indicating that Barcelona have stepped up their chase for the 18-year-old star, and a move should be close to materializing.

The 18-year-old joined West Ham in 2016 after Chelsea refused to extend his deal at Stamford Bridge and now has impressed with the Hammer’s U23 team last season. Now it looks like Quina is a target for the likes of Werder Bremen, Barcelona, and even Hoffenheim, with the sides looking to improve their squads by signing the central midfielder from Portugal.
