Confirmed: Arsenal hold ‘concrete’ talks to sign Lucas Torreira’s Sampdoria teammate

According to reports in Football Talk, Arsenal have entered talks to sign Lucas Torreira’s Sampdoria teammate Dennis Praet this summer.

This is according to several reports in the Italian media, who claim Arsenal boss Unai Emery won’t pass up the opportunity to further strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.

Emery is desperate to get Arsenal back into the Champions League for the 2019/2020 season.

The backing on Emery to succeed in the Premier League and in Europe is largely due to the fact that the Spanish boss has gotten straight to work at Arsenal, making a total of five new signings since he took over the helm at the club this summer.

Indeed, the arrival, in no particular order, of Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira and Stephan Lichtsteiner has led many critics to back the former PSG boss for success in the coming season.

It doesn’t end there as latest reports reveal Arsenal transfer department have also held ‘concrete’ talks with Dennis Praet’s agent.

Di Marzio says Arsenal could be viewing Praet as an alternative to former target Pellegrini or may look to sign both players as replacements for Cazorla and Wilshere which is highly unlikely for both players due to the Gunners’ being well stocked in midfield at the moment.

Praet, 24, has a considerate release clause of £22m. Although, Arsenal have exhausted their transfer kitty and will need to sell in other to sign new players.

Both players have the advantage of age and had an outstanding season in their club making them a vital part of Emery’s midfield.

The addition of both young stars in the club’s squad will likely increase Emery’s chances of a trophy or qualification for the European Champions League.
