While at Manchester United, Danny Welbeck could not make a huge impact with the Old Trafford club, and his performance with Arsenal hasn’t been a below-par.
Reports as per BBC Sport, the striker
who has netted 29 goals in 142 appearances across all competition for
United before joining the Gunners in the summer of 2014 for £16 million.
Welbeck has had injury issues during his
time with the Emirates club so far and is not even a guaranteed starter
before Arsene Wenger left and his future looks very uncertain with new
head-coach Unai Emery.
There is no surprising the club wants to
sell Welbeck this summer, with Everton believed to be one of the team
interested in his services.
As reported by The Sun,
the tabloid claimed the Gunners are ready to offload the strike this
window and are said to be lining up fee around £15m for the 27-year-old
international forward, who earns £125,000 per week as salary, according
to Spotrac.com.
But this will only be done if Everton’s
£36m move for Bordeaux winger Malcom fails this summer. Although, while
leaving Arsenal would ease selection headache for Emery, it should be
noted that Welbeck do not need the player as Everton have in their
ranks, better attacking players.
