Chelsea open talks to sign $69m South American as Morata replacement – “Sarri already in Italy”

Chelsea have reportedly made their first contact with Juventus for the transfer of Gonzalo Higuain as they look to strengthen their option upfront this summer.

Maurizio Sarri’s side are in dire need of some upgrades in attack ahead of upcoming season if they are make up for their last season miss out on Champions League football by finishing 5th in the Premier League table.

In such a scenario, the Blues have been strongly linked with move for Higuain this summer, with Tuttosport recently suggesting a £53.5million ($69,607,084.50) in close to completion with the Serie A champions over the transfer of the South American to Chelsea.
It’s added in the report that the 30-year-old is looking to leave Juventus, which will be a good option made by the Argentine base on the fact of the club’s recent acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, Juve’s £53.5million ($69,607,084.50) is an hefty figure, and with Chelsea just sanctioning a huge fee for the appointment of Maurizio Sarri and paying off Antonio Conte, they may have to sell some of their players before landing Higuain and Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi are mentioned as likely candidates for the exit door.

The two strikers have flopped for Chelsea in recent seasons and there seems little doubt Higuain would be a major upgrade in that all-important centre-forward role.
