Deal On: Atletico Madrid Key Man Could Make Shock Move to Man Utd

Ed Woodward is targeting Atletico Madrid’s Andrea Berta for the director of football role at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have been criticised for their approach in the transfer market while Jose Mourinho clashed with executive vice-chairman this summer over the need to recruit a new attacker, as well as a new central defender.
According to the Evening Standard, Andrea Berta is Ed Woodward’s top target following his impressive success in the transfer market with Spanish giants.
Andrea Berta, who has been with Atletico Madrid since 2013, was responsible for the club’s key signings including Jan Oblak and Jose Gimenez, while he also played a vital role in convincing Antoine Griezmann to turn down Barcelona and sign a new contract at Wanda Metropolitano instead.
The Italian is highly regarded and has been hailed as a miracle worker for Atletico. ‘Berta is a champion,’ Italian agent Dario Canovi said back in 2016.
‘In these years at Atletico, he has always achieved good results and gained money. He finds important players without paying too much, he has done miracles in Madrid.’

Ed Woodward was also said to have offered former No.1 Edvin van der Saar this vacant position, but the Dutchman marked the news as ‘nonsense.’
